Medical Support Strengthens the Health Service System in Xizang
Lhasa (ANTARA) - At Lhasa People’s Hospital in Lhasa, Xizang Autonomous Region, China, a number of medical specialists and doctors from various parts of China work alongside local doctors in operating theatres and clinics. They perform cataract surgeries, present case studies, and provide care using traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to patients. From 2015 to the end of 2025, 11 groups comprising 2,417 medical specialists have been sent to Xizang as part of China’s medical-aid program for the plateau region. Under the mentoring agreements signed between the providing hospital and the recipient hospital, the mentorship-based working mechanism has been fully implemented, enabling the specialists to transfer their skills and experience. By the end of 2025, medical professionals from the supporting hospitals in China have helped mentor 2,039 medical teams and train 5,416 local health workers in Xizang, greatly helping to enhance local medical care.
