Mediation Resolves Case of BMW Hitting Motorcycle and Being Vandalised in West Jakarta

Police have mediated a case involving a BMW electric car with registration number B-77-NRI that was vandalised after hitting a motorcyclist on Jalan Meruya Selatan, Kebon Jeruk District, West Jakarta. The case has been resolved amicably. “The matter has been settled amicably,” said AKP Joko Siswanto, Head of the Traffic Accident Unit at the West Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Division, when contacted on Tuesday (23/6/2026).

The mediation process involved the BMW driver and the representative of the online motorcycle taxi (ojol) rider who was struck. Following mediation, both parties agreed to a peaceful resolution. “In essence, both parties—the BMW side and the ojol rider’s family, represented by their child—have directly agreed, with our assistance in mediation, to settle the matter amicably,” he stated. “They have mutually agreed to resolve it amicably, so it is settled. We prioritise restorative justice, meaning a sense of fairness has been fulfilled,” he added.

The incident reportedly occurred on Monday (22/6) at around 08.15 WIB. In a video viewed, the car allegedly attempted to flee the scene. Several motorcyclists were seen chasing the vehicle. The car eventually stopped near a road divider. Police are still investigating the incident.

AKP Joko explained that the car was travelling from north to south on Jalan Meruya Selatan. It then collided with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. The motorcyclist fell as a result. “Prior to the traffic accident, the electric sedan was travelling from north to south,” said AKP Joko Siswanto on Monday (22/6). He mentioned that the motorcyclist suffered injuries to the hands and legs and subsequently received medical treatment at a hospital. He said the motorcycle was damaged after being hit by the car, while the car itself sustained damage to several parts after being attacked by the crowd.
