MediaTek prepares Dimensity 9600, with performance to rival Apple's chips

Jakarta (ANTARA) - MediaTek is reportedly preparing its latest generation chipset, the Dimensity 9600, which is said to be the company’s first 2 nanometre (nm) chip. Citing Gizmochina on Tuesday, based on leaks from technology leaker Digital Chat Station, the new chipset is claimed to bring significant performance enhancements, even capable of rivaling Apple’s chips in certain aspects. The Dimensity 9600 will use a 2+3+3 all-big-core CPU architecture focused on boosting single-core performance to approach Apple’s levels, while multi-core performance is said to potentially surpass Apple. In addition to CPU improvements, the chipset is reported to offer major advances in computing and data processing capabilities compared to the previous generation, although changes in the cache sector are not particularly significant. On the graphics side, the Dimensity 9600 is said to be equipped with the latest generation “Magin” GPU, which is larger in size than competing 2nm chipsets. Digital Chat Station also mentioned that the first phone to use the Dimensity 9600 series is likely to launch in September. One device expected to feature the chipset is the rumoured Vivo X500 Pro series, set to launch in the same period. However, the launch schedule for that lineup has not been confirmed, whether it will advance to September or stick to the October release pattern of the previous generation.
