MediaTek Launches Dimensity 7450 and 7450X, Targeting Gaming Phones and Foldable Devices
MediaTek has expanded its mid-range chipset lineup with the launch of the Dimensity 7450 and Dimensity 7450X on Sunday (26/4/2026). In terms of specifications, the two chipsets are nearly identical. Their main difference lies in the availability of feature support for foldable devices. The Dimensity 7450X is specifically designed for clamshell (flip) foldable phones, with dual-display support. This chipset can optimise the use of two screens simultaneously, namely the main inner screen and the secondary outer screen. For other specifications, the capabilities of both chipsets are the same. The MediaTek Dimensity 7450 and 7450X are compactly designed with 4 nanometre (nm) fabrication. The eight CPU cores consist of four high-performance Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores for power efficiency. For visuals, these chipsets rely on the Arm Mali-G615 MC2 graphics processing unit (GPU). To ensure smooth gaming, both chips are equipped with HyperEngine technology and Adaptive Gaming Technology 3.0. Despite their different names, they share the same concept and purpose: to dynamically balance performance and power consumption during gaming. Regarding the chip, MediaTek has also integrated a sixth-generation Neural Processing Unit (NPU) to enhance artificial intelligence (AI) processing on devices. The company claims that AI performance has improved by up to 7 percent compared to the previous generation. Additionally, this NPU is said to be more efficient for features such as AI-based cameras and other edge AI processing. The MediaTek Dimensity 7450 and 7450X both support camera sensors up to 200 MP via the Imagiq 950 image signal processor (ISP) chip. The chip also supports 4K HDR video recording, hardware-based noise reduction, and the Google Ultra HDR format.
