Media workers conduct smile campaign

JAKARTA (JP): Some 50 joint staff and employees from tabloid Senior health weekly and Bola sport weekly staged a smile campaign at Hotel Indonesia roundabout in Central Jakarta on Monday morning, calling for Jakartans to smile more.

During an hour-long campaign, the workers walked round the circle smiling, while holding a banner that read "smiling is healthy."

They also distributed pamphlets that read "smile please and you will feel relieved!"

Senior's acting editor in chief Widya said that in the current political situation, many people had ignored their health.

"Smiling should serve as the first step leading to good health," she said.

She noted that the campaign was inspired by Patch Adams' research into various patients at a West Virginia Hospital in the United States that found that smiles in fact could accelerate patients' recovery. (01)
