Media Reveals Turkey as a Greater Threat to Israel Than Iran
According to the Israeli newspaper Maariv, Turkey is considered a greater and more dangerous threat to Israel than Iran. This assessment is based on the fact that Turkey has the second-largest armed forces in NATO and has achieved approximately 80 percent self-sufficiency in its defence industry. The statement was made in an article published on Monday, reviewing the rapid progress Turkey has made in the defence industry and the enhancement of its military capabilities in recent years. The article also highlighted the declining level of alignment between Washington and Tel Aviv. It noted that Israel has not yet fully recovered from the shock of President Donald Trump’s change in stance regarding some of Israel’s security needs on its northern border. Now, according to the newspaper, Israel faces a new challenge deemed more dangerous than Iran: Turkey. The newspaper underscored the sheer size of the Turkish armed forces, which possess a large number of tanks, including the Altay main battle tank.
