Media must fight pornography

I greatly appreciate the courage of the Minister of Religious
Affairs to join the fight against pornography. His statement that
the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Indonesian Council of
Ulemas will draft an anti-pornography bill, as published in
Pikiran Rakyat of April 1, is really encouraging.

I, therefore, call on all sections of society to jointly take
stern measures against all forms of pornography and be brave
enough to stand up to all media outlets still publishing or
broadcasting sexually suggestive pictures, something which the
government and the public should pay serious attention to. We
don't want to see our country collapse as adultery, rape, sexual
harassment, abortion and other deviant acts become widespread due
to pornography.
