Media: Iran has no plans to target UAE oil facilities

Tehran (ANTARA) - Iran has no plans to target oil facilities in the United Arab Emirates, according to a report by the government media IRIB, citing a senior Tehran military official. The statement from the source was made as the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on Monday that Iranian missiles and drones had struck civilian locations. Furthermore, the UAE’s Fujairah Media Office reported that a fire broke out in the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone following the Iranian attack, injuring three people. Citing another military source, IRIB stated that Iran had no pre-planned intentions to attack those oil facilities, instead accusing the “US military adventure” of creating “a path for ships to illegally cross the prohibited route in the Strait of Hormuz.” The source added, “What happened is the result of the US military adventure to create a path for ships to illegally cross the prohibited route in the Strait of Hormuz, and the US military must be held accountable for it.” The source said US officials must stop their “reprehensible behaviour of using force in the diplomatic process and cease military adventures” in the Western Asian waters. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement described the Iranian attack as a dangerous escalation and unacceptable act of aggression that directly threatens the UAE’s security, stability, and territorial integrity. The statement added that the UAE has the “full and legitimate right” to respond to the attack. In response, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency quoted a statement from an Iranian military source familiar with the matter, who said that if the UAE takes “unwise” action, all its interests would become legitimate targets for Iran, and not a single facility in that country would remain safe. The source added that although the UAE has not issued an official threat, what was conveyed is news published by the media citing several sources. “The UAE knows that it is in a very vulnerable position and vulnerability is a deadly poison for that country,” the source added. “If the UAE wants to repeat the mistake in the 40-day war, we will completely ignore restraint,” the source further stated.
