MedcoEnergi sends logistical aid to residents affected by NTT earthquake

Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MedcoEnergi) has distributed humanitarian assistance in the form of logistical supplies and basic necessities for communities affected by the 7.7-magnitude earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

The aid was handed over by MedcoEnergi President Commissioner Yani Panigoro to the Expert Staff of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and Commander of the AJU-I Labuan Bajo Post, Major General TNI Luthfie Beta, witnessed by Deputy Governor of NTT Johni Asadoma in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, NTT, on Thursday (20/8).

“We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and all affected communities. We hope this assistance can help ease the burden on the community and support efforts to handle the impact of the disaster,” said Yani Panigoro in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.

Through the BNPB, the aid will be distributed according to needs in the field, including to vulnerable groups requiring special attention in emergency situations.

Deputy Governor of NTT Johni Asadoma expressed appreciation to MedcoEnergi for its contribution in providing assistance to earthquake victims in Flores.

“This assistance is being channelled appropriately through the BNPB AJU Post, so that it is properly recorded and will be distributed to places that have not been reached at all,” said Johni Asadoma.

BNPB Expert Staff and Commander of the AJU-I Labuan Bajo Post, Major General TNI Luthfie Beta, also expressed similar appreciation for the concern shown in supporting efforts to handle the impact of the earthquake in NTT.

“We hope that the handover of aid will make use of the facilities that have been prepared by the Government, so that the distribution of aid will be more optimal,” he said.
