Medco may resume production 'soon'
JAKARTA: PT Medco Energi Internasional, Indonesia's biggest
publicly traded oil company, said it's inspecting its oil and gas
area in the Gulf of Mexico and may resume production "in a few
weeks."
The company had halted oil and gas operations in offshore
Louisiana in the U.S. after Hurricane Katrina struck on Aug. 29,
President Hilmi Panigoro said in a statement.
The oil and gas output from the East Cameron-Main Pass Gulf of
Mexico fields contributed about 0.5 percent of the company's
average total oil and gas production in the first half this year,
Panigoro said in an e-mail.
"Repairs and further inspections of the Main Pass block will
take a few days and production is expected to resume in a few
weeks," Panigoro said. "The Louisiana onshore oil and gas
infrastructure are damaged and would take a few weeks to repair."
