Medan to host IMI congress

JAKARTA (JP): The national congress of the Association of
Indonesian Automotive Sports (IMI) is slated for June 1 and June
2 in Medan, North Sumatra.

The congress, the third in a series, will evaluate the
effectiveness of IMI's programs last year, formulate new programs
and elect new board members.

Automotive sports serve as a means for youths to channel their
penchant for speeding, an IMI official Helmy Sungkar told Antara
yesterday. He said he hoped that one day the level of Indonesian
auto sports would reach world class. (arf)
