Medan to be square city

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Development of this city will be focused more on the largely slum area in the north, Mayor H. Bahtiar Djafar said.

Bahtiar said this will bring about a better balance to the city and practically turn Medan into a square city.

The Medan Urban Development Project contains a number of proposals for the construction of infrastructure in the northern part of the city, he said as reported by Antara.

They include an outer ring road, three overpass bridges and the rehabilitation of about 24 km of the Deli River. (emb)
