Medan Police Uncover Ecstasy Trafficking Allegations at Phantom KTV & Nightclub

Medan City Police have uncovered allegations of illicit drug trafficking at Phantom KTV & Nightclub on Jalan H. Adam Malik in Medan Barat district. During a covert operation early on Saturday (23/5), officers sealed the premises and arrested one employee. Medan City Police Narcotics Unit Chief Kompol Refli Yusuf Nugraha stated that during the raid, officers apprehended a 21-year-old man identified as IR, who works as a customer service staff at the nightclub. ‘IR was caught red-handed selling ecstasy pills within the nightclub premises,’ he said on Sunday (24/5). Officers seized eight ready-to-sell ecstasy pills from the suspect. Initial interrogations revealed IR obtained the illegal substances from a supplier network to distribute to Phantom’s patrons. Refli explained that the investigation began after public reports of rampant drug trafficking at Phantom KTV & Nightclub. Police followed up by deploying an intelligence team for an investigation. ‘After intensive inquiry, the public information proved accurate,’ Refli said. Medan City Police Narcotics Unit investigators are currently expanding the probe to track down major dealers supplying ecstasy to IR. To secure the crime scene for investigation, police have cordoned off all entrances to Phantom KTV & Nightclub. Refli stated that no entertainment activities will be permitted there until further notice. Drug trafficking involving shabu and vape cartridges containing etomidate was carried out by East Kalimantan’s largest narcotics network. Thirty-one individuals were arrested in separate operations, with authorities seizing 136.5kg of shabu in total. A joint task force comprising BNN’s Interdiction Directorate, Intelligence Directorate, Customs, BNNP South Sumatra, and BNNP Banten conducted surveillance operations extending to Bogor. The arrest of a police officer is suspected to be linked to the ongoing drug trafficking investigation by police authorities. The operation began with public information about a large-scale narcotics shipment planned to pass through Jambi.
