Medan Mayor: Red and White Village/Urban Ward Cooperatives Programme to Be Optimised
Medan (ANTARA) – Medan Mayor Rico Tri Putra Waas said all central government programmes, including the Red and White Village/Urban Ward Cooperatives programme, would continue to be optimised in the city under his leadership.
“We fully support all central government programmes, including the Red and White Village/Urban Ward Cooperatives,” Rico Waas said in Medan on Monday.
He said implementation of the programme in Medan was still under way.
According to data from the Medan Office of Cooperatives, SMEs, Industry and Trade, only 18 of the city’s 151 Red and White Village/Urban Ward Cooperatives are currently operating.
Although the number is relatively low, Waas said the implementation process would be reviewed.
He said the city government would improve coordination with relevant policymakers to optimise the programme.
“This is still in progress, and we hope it will run optimally,” he said.
Waas said he was confident that all central government programmes would be implemented successfully because they benefited all sections of society.
“Good programmes can certainly be implemented well,” he said.
Medan Cooperatives, Micro and Small Businesses, Industry and Trade Office head Hendra Ridho previously said the city government was taking various steps to speed up the programme’s operation.
He said the city would provide institutional support, train cooperative managers and help participants develop business plans.
“We will also support the strengthening of business partnerships, including with Bulog and local small and medium-sized enterprises,” he said.
