Medan Mayor Rico Tri Putra Waas stated that the Indonesia City Expo, part of the 18th National Working Meeting of the Association of Indonesian City Governments (APEKSI), serves as a platform for governments to explore strategic cooperation potential. “The Indonesia City Expo is an important momentum for city governments to get to know the potential and advantages of each region,” said Rico Waas after opening the expo in Medan, North Sumatra, on Wednesday. He noted that the event, held from 1 to 3 July, showcases various leading products from cities across Indonesia that can be developed through cooperation between regional governments. According to him, various cooperation opportunities can be pursued, both between regional governments and with non-government entities. “The exhibition is not just an event to display products, but a momentum to open investment opportunities and strengthen cooperation between governments and non-government parties,” he added. He expressed hope that the event, featuring 60 stands from various city governments, would provide tangible benefits for development in each region. “Just like Medan City, which is introducing its leading products to all APEKSI National Working Meeting participants. Hopefully, upon returning from this event, they will bring positive outcomes to their respective regions,” he said. Rico Waas noted that the Indonesia City Expo is part of the series of agendas for the 18th APEKSI National Working Meeting in Medan, running from 28 June to 4 July 2026. He added that the meeting of mayors from across Indonesia also features various other strategic agendas, including forums on food, the environment, communication and informatics, as well as business matching and discussions on inter-city opportunities. “The Indonesia City Expo is a momentum for the birth of new ideas, cooperation commitments, and partnerships capable of strengthening the people’s economy,” he said.
