Medan Mare LAN robber dies after attacking victim and being chased by a mob

A robbery suspect died in Medan’s MareLAN district after being chased by a mob on MareLAN Raya Road in the Platina area, Tanah 600. The incident occurred early on Wednesday (27 May 2026).

The unidentified suspect was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head injuries sustained when his motorcycle crashed while trying to flee from locals. Medan Labuhan police station commander Assistant Commissioner RajaPutra Napitupulu explained that the attack began when victim Muhammad Aji Sidiq was riding his Honda Beat motorcycle (licence plate BK 6688 AJH) to buy food near the scene. suspicious individuals followed him, prompting him to accelerate to escape.

However, when passing a speed bump, the suspects blocked his path. Aji managed to brake and attempted to turn back but was kicked off his motorcycle. The suspects then repeatedly slashed him with a bladed weapon. Despite severe injuries, Aji clung to the motorcycle’s handlebars and ran while screaming for help.

Residents rushed to chase the suspects. Panicked by the approaching crowd, the suspects lost control of their motorcycle, causing a single-vehicle accident. One suspect fell and hit his head on a hard object, dying instantly. Two others escaped and are being pursued by police. Aji’s motorcycle was recovered intact.

Medan Labuhan police immediately processed the crime scene and transported the suspect’s body to Medan BhayangkaraHospital. Medical examination confirmed the cause of death as severe head trauma. Raja stated that the suspect’s family visited the hospital, submitted a written statement objecting to a post-mortem, and confirmed no legal action would be taken. “The body has been handed over to the family,” Raja added.
