A Medan city councillor, identified by the initials AT, has been named a suspect after being reported by his neighbour, Robin Marojahan Silalahi (52), for alleged assault.

“The individual (AT) has been named a suspect,” said Medan Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Adrian Risky Lubis on Wednesday (29/7/2026).

Robin reported the alleged assault to the Medan Police. He stated that the incident occurred on Jalan Tapanuli, Medan Barat District, on Friday morning (5/6). At the time, Robin was driving his car along Jalan Tapanuli towards his home on Jalan Karya Rakyat, accompanied by a family member.

“The incident happened on Friday at 10.00 a.m. I was on my way home, driving the car,” Robin said on Wednesday (10/6).

While driving along Jalan Tapanuli, Robin passed AT and his son, who were walking on foot. Robin explained that he accidentally pressed the accelerator because of a speed bump ahead of him. He suspects AT was displeased by the sound of the engine and struck his car. Robin claims he was then chased by AT and his son, identified by the initial D. When Robin opened his car window to protest AT hitting his vehicle, an argument ensued. Robin alleges he was punched by both AT and his son while still inside the car, unable to exit because the son was blocking the door. As a result of the incident, Robin said he sustained bruises to his face and arms.
