Medan (ANTARA) - The Medan city government is intensifying dawn patrol operations to maintain public security and order during the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.

“This activity is carried out as a preventive measure to maintain peace and public order during the month of Ramadan,” said Medan Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) chief Muhammad Yunus in Medan on Sunday.

He said the patrols, which involve relevant stakeholders, are a follow-up to directives from the Mayor of Medan, who ordered his staff to actively maintain conducive conditions.

“The deployed personnel are coordinating with other joint teams,” he said.

Yunus said the patrols, aimed at anticipating disturbances to public security and order, target a number of road sections considered vulnerable in Medan.

He said the patrols are focused on the public, particularly young people, to prevent them from engaging in activities that could constitute breaches of public order.

“Earlier we patrolled along Jalan Setia Budi, Jalan Pulo Brayan, Medan Marlean, and Medan Belawan,” he said.

He expressed hope that the presence of personnel in the field would maintain security and order so that residents observing the Ramadan fast feel safe and comfortable.

“Let us together maintain order, respect times of worship, and fill the holy month with positive activities,” he said.

Medan Mayor Rico TP Waas has instructed Civil Service Police Unit personnel to join patrols with local police throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

He said the participation of Satpol PP represents the local city government’s effort to maintain public security and order during the holy month of Ramadan.

He stressed that security and order are a particular concern for the local city government in order to provide a sense of safety and comfort for residents observing the Ramadan fast.

“I ask colleagues to coordinate with the Medan Metropolitan Police to participate in patrols,” he said.
