Medan City Government expands MSME market through Dekranasda Gallery
The Medan City Government, North Sumatra, has launched the Mustika Deli Dekranasda Gallery as an effort to expand the market and provide incubation for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region.
“The presence of Mustika Deli Gallery is a momentum to build a people’s economy ecosystem, creative economy and industry that supports Medan City tourism,” said Medan Mayor Rico Tri Putra Waas after inaugurating the Mustika Deli Gallery in Medan on Wednesday.
He said the gallery will become a platform for MSME players to develop their businesses with assistance from the local government.
According to him, development is not enough by merely providing a promotional venue, but requires mentoring according to the needs of MSME players.
“This should become a showcase. A showcase of our pride and this place is also functioned as an incubation venue for MSMEs in Medan City,” he said.
In optimising the gallery, Rico Waas instructed regional apparatus organisations including sub-district levels to monitor product development as well as MSME players.
Rico Waas requested that MSME products in the gallery, located at the Medan Public Service Mall (MPP), undergo tiered curation so that they are competitive.
He said the products displayed from various categories such as fashion, craft, art and craft, culinary and food must become distinctive souvenirs of Medan City.
“This becomes the main one-stop shopping platform for tourists and local residents looking for craft and culinary products of Medan City,” he said.
