Medan (ANTARA) — The Medan City Government in North Sumatra says business training for micro and small enterprises organised by Perum LKBN ANTARA is an effort to strengthen entrepreneurs’ capabilities and competitiveness.

“This activity is a tangible form of support from various parties to improve the capacity and competitiveness of businesses, particularly MSMEs in Medan,” Hendra Ridho, head of the Medan Cooperatives, Micro and Small Enterprises, Industry and Trade Office, said after opening the training in Medan on Friday.

He said training organised by the national news agency was one of the needs of MSME operators seeking to build their capacity.

The programme, themed “Increasing the Competitiveness of Micro and Small Enterprises through Innovation and Digital Content”, helps business operators understand today’s technological environment, he said.

“Attractive products need to be presented well. Their advantages also need to be communicated through creative and innovative content. So this training is very beneficial for MSME operators,” he said.

Hendra said Perum LKBN ANTARA’s role and contribution in organising the training would encourage local government efforts to build MSME capacity and competitiveness.

He said improving competitiveness was one of the city government’s priorities for raising residents’ welfare.

“I hope the knowledge gained can be applied in day-to-day business activities. The Medan City Government continues to encourage the strengthening of MSMEs as part of efforts to improve the community’s economy,” he said.

Irwan Arfa, head of LKBN ANTARA’s North Sumatra bureau, said the training, delivered as part of the company’s social and environmental responsibility programme, reflected its commitment to improving MSMEs’ competitiveness.

“This training is part of our commitment to building entrepreneurs’ capacity and boosting creativity in their business activities,” Irwan said.
