Spokesperson for the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Maria Assegaf, has urged Indonesian hajj pilgrims to heighten their vigilance against extreme weather in Mecca, forecasted to reach 43 degrees Celsius. Maria requested that pilgrims carefully plan their departure times to the Grand Mosque to avoid excessive heat exposure, particularly during the daytime. “Ladies and gentlemen, given that today’s weather in Mecca is expected to reach 43 degrees Celsius, we urge all pilgrims to properly schedule their trips to the Grand Mosque,” Maria stated during a press conference on hajj arrangements on Sunday (3/5/2026). “Then immediately report to the officers if experiencing any health disturbances,” she added. The government, Maria continued, is committed to delivering comfortable, professional, and friendly hajj services for all pilgrims. She also encouraged pilgrims to maintain solidarity, follow instructions from officers, and focus on performing their worship calmly and devoutly. A total of 117 pilgrims have been referred to the Indonesian Hajj Health Clinic (KKHI), and 141 to hospitals in Saudi Arabia. “Currently, 59 pilgrims are still being treated in Saudi Arabian hospitals,” she explained. “Overall, the health conditions of the pilgrims continue to be monitored and receive optimal medical services,” Maria concluded.
