Istanbul (ANTARA) - Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan agreed on Monday (5/10) to “immediately” implement collective defence commitments and take several steps to ensure the “rapid deployment” of agreed military forces and capabilities to Saudi Arabia, according to a joint statement.

The decision was reached during an emergency meeting of the Political, Strategic, and Defence Committee of the Mecca Alliance in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, to discuss developments in the security situation and the threats facing the kingdom.

“The Committee has decided to immediately move to the practical implementation stage of the collective defence commitments,” explained the joint statement from the three member nations of the committee.

The Committee also agreed “to take the necessary steps in providing the agreed military forces and capabilities and ensuring their rapid deployment to Saudi territory.”

This deployment will be carried out in accordance with “agreed arrangements and the national laws and regulations of each party, thereby enhancing readiness, military integration, and collective capacity to confront and deter threats,” the statement added.

The three nations also “strongly condemned attempts to target” the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, as well as ongoing attacks against other Saudi cities and both civilian and economic facilities.

They expressed a “firm rejection of all forms of attacks or threats” to the security or territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.

The three countries welcomed the appointment of Mahmood, expressing hope for his success in carrying out his duties and stating confidence in his contribution to advancing the alliance and achieving its goals.

The Mecca Defence Pact statement noted that Pakistan and Turkey “appreciate the vigilance and readiness of the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces,” as well as their high level of professionalism and competence in countering threats and attacks and maintaining security and integrity within the kingdom’s territory.

The Committee also reviewed the results of political and military consultations preceding the meeting and approved the submitted recommendations, asserting that the Mecca Defence Alliance reflects a “steadfast commitment to collective defence and a united stance in facing threats.”

The parties emphasised that “the security of each party is an inseparable part of the collective security of the three nations.”

They stated that the manifestation of the Mecca Defence Alliance into concrete measures demonstrates the credibility of their commitment to collective defence, strengthens deterrence, and reaffirms the “unity and determination of the three nations to defend their security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, in accordance with the provisions of the agreement.”

The agreement to form the new alliance was signed on 7 August 2026, which was subsequently followed by several steps from the three member nations to implement the treaty.
