Saudi Arabian Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman stated on Monday (05/10/2026) that the Mecca Defence Alliance has agreed to activate collective prevention measures. This decision comes in response to a series of recent attacks targeting Saudi Arabia.

“The Emergency Meeting of the Political and Strategic Defence Committee under the Mecca Defence Alliance reaffirms the solidarity and unity of our nations in facing heinous attacks against the Kingdom and the holy sites,” Prince Khalid stated via his X account.

“The Committee has agreed to activate collective prevention measures within the framework of the Alliance in response to these attacks and all parties responsible for them,” he continued.

This statement was issued following an emergency meeting of the Political and Strategic Defence Committee of the Mecca Alliance in Riyadh. The meeting brought together three member states: Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Türkiye.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated after the meeting that the three nations discussed the forms of support that could be provided to strengthen Saudi Arabian defences.

“We discussed in detail what kind of support can be provided for the defence of Saudi Arabia. On the other hand, we also discussed what can be done to resolve this issue peacefully and through dialogue,” Fidan said.

According to Fidan, Saudi Arabia has adopted a “very constructive approach,” while Türkiye shared its perspectives during the discussions.

Fidan also noted that the process of establishing the alliance’s institutional structure has entered its final stages. The meeting addressed the secretariat structure, as well as various military, operational, and technical aspects.

During the meeting, the committee appointed Lieutenant General (Ret.) Nauman Mahmood of Pakistan as the first Secretary-General of the Mecca Alliance for a three-year term.
