Meat Prices Rise in Several Regions, Supply Under Spotlight
The condition of prices and supplies of staple goods ahead of Eid shows differing patterns in several regions.
In Bangka Belitung, stocks and prices are monitored as stable. The Food Task Force of the Bangka Belitung Police ensures that supplies are sufficient until Eid al-Fitr and Nyepi.
“Overall, the prices and stocks of staple goods in the market ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah are monitored as stable and safe,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Bangka Belitung Police, Commissioner Agus Sugiyarso.
Monitoring is carried out every day in traditional markets. Beef prices are in the range of Rp145,000 to Rp150,000 per kilogram.
Chicken prices are Rp40,000 to Rp45,000 per kilogram. Egg prices are Rp1,800 to Rp1,900 per item.
Officers also remind traders to comply with the HET and HAP.
“If there is any fluctuation, we will assess whether the increase is still within reasonable limits or not,” said Agus.
Supervision is carried out until after Eid.
In contrast to Bangka Belitung, beef prices in Samarinda have experienced an increase. Fresh beef prices have risen from Rp160,000 to Rp170,000 per kilogram.
Frozen beef prices have risen from Rp120,000 to Rp135,000 per kilogram. Traders say the increase is triggered by supplies that are starting to become limited.
“Buyers are quite numerous, but stocks are a bit difficult. This is what causes prices to rise,” said Husain, a trader at Segiri Market.
Demand is increasing ahead of Eid. Traders are limiting sales while waiting for supplies.
Consumers are starting to adjust their purchases.
“Usually I buy two kilos, now at most one kilo,” said Rahmat, a buyer.
