Measles Outbreak Status Not Yet Revoked, Cirebon City Intensifies Measles-Rubella Immunisation Drive

The Cirelag City Health Office continues to intensify the achievement of Measles-Rubella (MR) immunisation targets for children. This follows the continued validity of the Measles outbreak status.

The Head of the Cirebon City Health Office, Siti Maria Listiawaty, stated that there are a total of 38,730 children targeted for MR immunisation in Cirebon City. Of that number, 32,893 children have been immunised, while efforts are ongoing for the remaining 5,837 children to receive the vaccine.

“The MR immunisation achievement in Cirebon City currently stands at 84.9 per cent,” Maria said on Monday (31/08/2026).

As is known, the Measles outbreak status in Cirebon City has been in effect since 20 February 2026, following the discovery of measles cases.

She explained that the Measles outbreak status in Cirebon City remains active because the chain of transmission is still ongoing. Therefore, MR immunisation is being continuously pursued to establish herd immunity within the community.

The immunisation is provided to children aged nine months to less than 13 years. A minimum immunisation coverage of 95 per cent is required to achieve such herd immunity.

To accelerate the achievement of the immunisation target, the Cirebon City Health Office has also involved 100 Posyandu (integrated healthcare centre) volunteers. These volunteers are drawn from 22 sub-districts spread across Cirebon City.

“These volunteers play a significant role in disseminating information regarding immunisation,” said Maria.
