McFarlane urges Chelsea to showcase their best against City
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chelsea interim coach Calum McFarlane has urged his team to showcase their best when they face Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium, London, on Saturday.
Quoted from the club’s official website on Saturday, McFarlane believes his squad is ready to face the challenge and emphasised the level required from Chelsea.
“The players have the belief that they can beat anyone – we just know that we have to be the best version of ourselves,” said McFarlane.
Regarding the strength of Manchester City, McFarlane explained that Pep Guardiola’s squad is a tough team with quality coaches and players.
Although acknowledging the strength of Manchester City, the English coach is confident that Chelsea has the ability to pose a threat.
“So it will be a challenge. But we also have very good players, and these players have shown that if they are at their best, they can beat anyone,” said McFarlane.
McFarlane explained that a match of this calibre against Manchester City requires special preparation, but the time his squad has is not sufficient.
He and the Chelsea coaching staff will continue to carry out their usual routines to help control the nervousness or heightened emotions before the match.
“We will have the same process in the way we work every day, whether it’s meetings with the players, individual meetings, everything will be the same,” said McFarlane.
“We will try to keep it as normal as possible and try to get the same performance as we got against Leeds and Liverpool. But, of course, this is a big match and you can’t avoid it. We all want to win,” he said.
