McDonald's donates garbage truck

JAKARTA (JP): McDonald's Indonesia donated a dump truck to the city administration on Monday as part of the firm's commitment to help improve public sanitation.

McDonald's Indonesia president Bambang N. Rachmadi presented the truck to Governor Sutiyoso at City Hall, Ari Satriyo Wibowo of the firm's communication division, said.

Ari explained that the truck was the result of the collection of Rp 500 from each purchase of McChicken burgers in 67 McDonald's outlets throughout the city since mid last year.

"In conjunction with its (the program) launching, McDonald's managed to collect Rp 97 million from the sales of 194,000 McChicken burgers from June 27 to June 29 last year," he said.

McDonald's distributed part of the collected funds to sanitation improvement programs in other cities with McDonald's outlets, he added. (hhr)
