MBS Called Trump Before US Cancelled Attack on Iran

United States President Donald Trump has stated that the US has cancelled its planned attack on Iran following a series of agreements. Reports have emerged revealing that Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) telephoned Trump prior to this cancellation.

According to reports by the US news site Axios, as cited by Al-Jazeera on Sunday (2/8/2026), internal sources indicate that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called Trump on Saturday (1/8). MBS reportedly urged Trump to cancel the strike and return to negotiations.

Trump had previously stated on Friday that the US would attack Iran “very hard”. On Saturday (1/8), the US Department of State issued security warnings for American citizens in ten countries within the region, urging them to exercise increased caution and consider leaving the countries due to rising tensions.

However, Trump has now confirmed the cancellation of the US attack on Iran, citing limitations set by the newly agreed-upon deal. Writing on his Truth Social account, Trump stated that the US was initially prepared to launch “Terror, Force, and Power unseen since World War II” against Iran.

He added, however, that “we have just been asked” by Iran and other nations to postpone any attack because “the terms of a deal have been agreed.”

Trump noted that the agreement includes the “immediate, full, and total opening of the Strait of Hormuz” and the “ending of the Iranian nuclear threat.”

“The United States is on high alert and ready to attack the Islamic Republic of Iran, with a level of military terror, force, and power unseen since World War II. Nevertheless, Iran and other Middle Eastern nations have just asked us to postpone any attack because the terms of a deal have been agreed,” Trump said.
