REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JEDDAH – Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi have warned against repeated Iranian attacks on Gulf states. For both leaders, the targeting of vital and civilian facilities constitutes a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability.

Prince MBS received President El-Sisi in Jeddah on Saturday (21/3/2026). They exchanged Eid al-Fitr greetings and prayed for continued prosperity and stability for both countries and the wider Muslim world.

As reported by Saudigazette on Sunday (22/3/2026), their discussions focused on regional developments, particularly the impact of ongoing military escalations in the Middle East and their implications for regional and global security, as well as efforts to coordinate responses.

President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s condemnation of Iran’s repeated attacks on Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region. He affirmed Cairo’s solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in facing any threats to its sovereignty and security.

It should be noted that since Israel and the United States (US) attacked Iran on 28 February, Iran has carried out retaliatory strikes. US bases and all its assets and interests in Saudi Arabia, and other Gulf states, have become targets of Iranian attacks.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry stated that Iran’s continuous targeting of Saudi sovereignty, civilian infrastructure, economic interests, and diplomatic premises constitutes a clear violation of international law, principles of good neighbourliness, the Beijing Agreement, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026).

Such actions are seen as contrary to the principles that Iran claims to uphold, and emphasise that sustained aggression will have serious consequences for current and future relations. Saudi Arabia said it has officially notified the Iranian military attaché, assistant military attaché, and three other embassy staff members to leave the Kingdom within 24 hours.

The statement reaffirms that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security, territory, airspace, citizens, residents, and national interests, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.
