A distribution vehicle for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme in Nabire Regency, Central Papua, was used to transport rubbish. The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has frozen the operations of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) 02 Siriwini in Nabire Regency.

Nabire Regional Coordinator for BGN, Marsel Asyerem, stated that SPPG 02 Siriwini had violated regulations regarding the improper use of operational vehicles.

“The Central BGN has sent a letter suspending operations temporarily to us in the region as a follow-up to the report,” Marsel said, as quoted by Antara on Saturday (28/3/2026).

He explained that the SOP violation came to light after the agency received a report from the Nabire Environmental Agency (DLH), which is part of the Nabire MBG Acceleration Task Force, discovering the MBG box truck being used to transport and dispose of rubbish. BGN Nabire then forwarded the report to the Central BGN regarding the case.

Following the receipt of the report, the Central BGN decided on the temporary suspension of operations for SPPG 02 Siriwini. The unit was deemed to have violated SOP.

“The Central BGN imposed a temporary suspension sanction because the kitchen violated the established standard operating procedures,” he said.

Until When Will It Be Frozen?

Marsel stated that the operational suspension will continue until the evaluation and investigation processes are completed. The kitchen managers are also required to provide a commitment statement to avoid repeating similar violations.

“There must be a statement from the head of SPPG that in the future, the box truck will not be used for other purposes and that all applicable SOPs will be followed,” he said.

Marsel emphasised that the MBG box truck, provided for food distribution operations, must not be used for other purposes, especially not for transporting rubbish.

“This operational vehicle, although provided by a partner, is rented by BGN for distributing MBG food, so it must be used according to its intended purpose and comply with SOP,” he said.
