Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) programme continues to expand its beneficiary coverage across various regions of Indonesia. The government reported that the number of beneficiaries has reached 62.45 million as of Friday, 22 May 2026.

According to data from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) on 22 May 2026, students are the largest beneficiary group with 48,350,393 individuals, representing 76.1% of the total student database of 63,574,421.

In addition to schoolchildren, the MBG programme targets 6,303,775 toddlers, or approximately 37.7% of the national toddler database. For breastfeeding mothers (busui), 2,066,533 recipients have been recorded, accounting for 75.2% of the target.

Pregnant women (bumil) beneficiaries total 868,259, or about 35.3% of the target. Meanwhile, 644,664 religious students (santri) have been included, representing 44.2% of the national target.

The MBG programme also involves approximately 4,220,440 teachers and education staff in its implementation, bringing the total beneficiaries to 62,454,064.

Operational Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) have reached 29,225 units nationwide. Since its launch on 6 January 2025, a total of 8.3 billion meals have been distributed.

The MBG programme has reached 374,175 beneficiary schools across Indonesia. To support operations, 1,285,250 workers are involved, from food preparation to distribution.

In terms of the supply chain, the BGN recorded involvement of 142,387 suppliers, comprising 59,921 SMEs, 13,306 cooperatives, 690 KDKMPs, 1,410 Bumdes (village-owned enterprises), 157 Bumdesma (sub-village enterprises), and 66,903 other suppliers.

Local business participation is cited as a driver of regional economies while strengthening national food security.
