The price of chicken meat and eggs in Sukabumi City, West Java, has risen again. This condition occurred after the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme resumed following the long school holiday. Data from the Sukabumi City Cooperative, Micro Enterprise, Industry and Trade Office (Diskumindag) recorded that the current average price of chicken meat is around IDR 37,000 per kilogram. Previously, the price of this commodity was in the range of IDR 36,000 per kilogram. Meanwhile, the price of chicken eggs has risen to IDR 26,000 per kilogram, up from an initial price of IDR 25,000 per kilogram. β€œIn the past week, the prices of chicken meat and eggs have increased twice, namely on 13 July and 17 July,” said Head of Domestic Trade at the Sukabumi City Diskumindag, M Rifky. Rifky stated that the increase in the price of these two commodities was likely due to rising demand, especially since the MBG programme is now running again after the school holidays. He also noted that the price of imported soybeans has fallen by IDR 250 per kilogram, from IDR 10,900 to IDR 10,650 per kilogram. Meanwhile, several other commodities have seen relatively stable prices, including premium grade I rice at IDR 14,800 per kilogram, premium grade II rice at IDR 14,600 per kilogram, beef at IDR 150,000 per kilogram, and cooking oil at IDR 21,000 per litre. The Sukabumi City Diskumindag continues to monitor price developments in the field, ensuring that price movements remain relatively controlled and do not cause significant public unrest.
