MBG Kitchens Banned from Using Subsidised Minyakita and 3 kg LPG Cylinders

Head of the National Nutrition Agency Sudaryono has instructed all nutritional fulfilment service units, or kitchens for the free nutritious meal project, to become stabilisers of food supply and prices. He has requested that ingredients for the MBG menu not use subsidised goods. “MBG kitchens must not cook using Minyakita or 3 kilogram LPG cylinders,” Sudaryono stated at the BGN office in Jakarta on Monday, 27 July 2026. He explained that the objective of the MBG project is not only to eradicate stunting but also to maintain the balance of food prices and availability. He gave an example that when the market price of eggs falls, MBG kitchens must still purchase eggs at the government reference price. According to him, this step is important to ensure that farmers do not suffer losses. Sudaryono also called for public participation in oversight. He warned that kitchens found purchasing subsidised foodstuffs would receive a reprimand and a warning letter, and if they remained recalcitrant, the kitchen would be shut down. Furthermore, he asserted that the procurement of food production materials must be conducted fairly, and any kitchen purchasing ingredients at unreasonable prices would face sanctions for violations. “There must be no subjective selection of suppliers, and no party should take advantage of the situation and opportunity,” Sudaryono said.
