The West Jakarta Health Sub-District Office (Sudinkes) has stated that the Nutrition Programme Service Unit (SPPG), or kitchen for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme in Wijaya Kusuma, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, has not yet obtained a Hygiene and Sanitation Certificate (SLHS). This kitchen is one of two locations inspected by the Chief of Presidential Staff (KSP), retired General Dudung Abdurachman, which were deemed dirty and found to contain numerous maggots. The head of the West Jakarta Sudinkes, Dr Sahruna, explained that the Wijaya Kusuma SPPG does not have the certificate because it has only been operational for about two months. Meanwhile, the other SPPG inspected by the KSP, in Sukabumi Utara, Kebon Jeruk, has obtained the SLHS after commencing operations on 25 November 2025. In response to the KSP’s findings regarding maggots and piles of rubbish, Sahruna confirmed the information. However, she emphasised that the maggots were found in the SPPG’s waste area, not in the food to be distributed to MBG recipient children. According to her, there were leftovers from the previous day in the waste bin, which triggered the appearance of maggots. She also stated that she is currently coordinating with relevant parties to conduct direct checks at the SPPG location. “For now, I’m still coordinating first,” she said. She explained that the main duties and functions (tupoksi) of the Health Office and its subordinates are limited to supervising food hygiene and food handlers. “But essentially, if it’s about the cleanliness of the SPPG area, that should be the concern of the SPPG managers. The tupoksi of the Health Office and its affiliates focuses on the food and the food handlers,” said Sahruna. The Sudinkes supervision focuses on four aspects: conducting Environmental Health Inspections (IKL), providing Food Handler/Sanitation Training Courses (KPSS), ensuring food handlers have health certificates, and ensuring laboratory examinations of food, water, equipment swabs, and anal swabs. Previously reported, the Chief of Presidential Staff (KSP), retired General Dudung Abdurachman, discovered numerous maggots and rubbish in two SPPGs or kitchens for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme in Kebon Jeruk and Petamburan, West Jakarta.
