MBG Governance Corruption: Attorney General's Office Opens Option to Summon Former BGN Head Nanik Deyang

The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has opened the possibility of summoning former National Nutrition Agency (BGN) head Nanik S. Deyang in connection with an alleged corruption case involving the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. Head of the Attorney General’s Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, stated that while no summons has been scheduled for this week, investigators have not ruled out calling upon Deyang if her testimony is deemed necessary for the case. “There is no summons scheduled for this week, but the possibility remains open in the future if investigators require it for evidentiary purposes,” Anang said on Wednesday, 22 July. He explained that the investigative team is currently prioritising the examination of other witnesses whose testimonies are considered to have significant evidentiary weight in unravelling the alleged mismanagement of the MBG programme. This focus on key witnesses is a preliminary step before deciding on further summonses for other parties within the BGN. Nanik S. Deyang recently resigned from her position as head of the BGN, a decision she attributed to the need to undergo heart treatment. Her resignation was confirmed by Presidential Assistant for Communication and Policy Analysis, Dirgayuza Setiawan, who noted that Deyang had personally bid farewell to President Prabowo Subianto. Dirgayuza added that during her brief tenure, Deyang had evaluated 28,000 SPPG kitchens and laid the groundwork for institutional improvements. President Prabowo subsequently appointed Sudaryono as the new head of the BGN. The Attorney General’s Office emphasised that the legal process will focus on the activities of individuals within the BGN, regardless of their background or position.
