MBG Distribution Becomes 5 Days, SPPG Employees' Salaries Remain the Same
The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, has affirmed that the salaries of employees at the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) will not change despite the adjustment of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme distribution days to five. “No, they remain the same. It’s been that amount all along,” said Dadan when met at the Coordinating Ministry for Food, Graha Mandiri, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (2/4/2026). Furthermore, Dadan assured that the cost per MBG portion remains unchanged from before. “It’s the same, no changes. Only the days,” he stated. Meanwhile, for students in other regions, MBG distribution is adjusted to school days, namely five days per week. “Providing MBG on Saturdays for areas with high stunting risk is a strategic step to ensure children receive sufficient nutrition every day,” said Dadan in a press release received by Kompas.com on Sunday (28/3/2026). BGN also emphasised that thorough data collection is key in determining recipient areas for this policy. In its implementation, BGN will coordinate with local education and health departments to ensure data accuracy so the programme reaches the right targets. The data collection includes the number of schools, number of students, and stunting levels in each area. “Data integrity is very important because this programme concerns the health and future of the young generation. We do not want any child to be left out from nutrition fulfilment,” said Dadan. Through this policy, BGN hopes that all schoolchildren, especially in 3T regions and stunting-prone areas, can meet their nutritional needs to support optimal growth and development, while accelerating the reduction of stunting in Indonesia.
