The alleged corruption case in the management of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme for the 2025-2026 fiscal year at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is potentially entering a new chapter. One of the suspects, former BGN Deputy Head Sony Sonjaya, is reportedly ready to reveal various pieces of information he holds to investigators at the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung). He is even planning to submit himself as a Justice Collaborator (JC) to help uncover suspected irregularities in the programme.

This information was conveyed by his legal counsel, Elza Syarief, after meeting Sony at the Attorney General’s Office. According to Elza, her client has stated his commitment to being cooperative and assisting investigators in unravelling various issues that occurred during the implementation of the MBG programme. “He requested to be a JC and he will open everything. Cooperate with the Attorney General’s Office and expose everything,” she said on Friday, 5 June 2026.

Not only expressing a willingness to cooperate, Sony is said to possess data believed to be capable of expanding the investigation into the case. One point of focus is the alleged practice of buying and selling MBG kitchen locations or points, which has recently garnered significant attention during the investigation process. Elza revealed that her client claims to have a system and data that can be used to trace parties suspected of being involved in these practices.

“He will create a system so that his laptop can detect who was buying and selling it. He has several names, many, more than 30 people to be examined,” she said. According to her, this data could serve as an initial lead for investigators to trace alleged transactions related to the determination of MBG programme implementation points. “From there, it can be detected who was buying and selling those points,” she stated.

This statement opens up the possibility that the investigation will not stop at the currently named suspects. Moreover, the Attorney General’s Office previously indicated it continues to delve into various findings in the case. However, Elza denied that her client was directly involved in the alleged practices of buying and selling points currently under investigation. She asserted that Sony only played a role in providing programme location points, and the alleged irregularities that emerged in the field were linked to other parties.
