Former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Lodewyk Pusung has requested to be presented in person during the pretrial hearing concerning the alleged corruption case in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.

The request was conveyed by Lodewyk through a letter read out during the pretrial hearing at the Central Jakarta District Court on Thursday, 13 August 2026.

“To the honourable Single Judge of the Central Jakarta District Court. I request to be presented at the trial agenda in the pretrial case,” Lodewyk wrote in his letter.

In the same letter, Lodewyk denied the accusations of involvement in the procurement of goods and services for the MBG programme.

“Where the evidence and everything I am accused of is slander,” Lodewyk added.

He also considered the evidence and witness statements that formed the basis for his designation as a suspect to be weak.

“That I have never committed or approved any buying and selling actions as accused of me,” he explained.

Lodewyk asserted that the implementation of the MBG programme he carried out had followed the procedures and legal provisions in force.

“As mandated by President Prabowo Subianto to me,” he stressed.

In the same hearing, Lodewyk’s legal team asked the single judge of the Central Jakarta District Court to grant their client’s pretrial motion in its entirety.

The legal counsel requested that the arrest and detention of Lodewyk in the alleged MBG corruption case be declared unlawful.

“That based on the arguments and juridical facts above, the Petitioner requests the Single Judge examining and adjudicating this case to be pleased to rule with the following verdict. To accept and grant the pretrial motion of the Petitioner in its entirety,” said Lodewyk’s legal counsel in the hearing.

In addition, the legal counsel asked the judge to declare the actions of the Respondent in the case, namely the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung), in the form of arrest, search, seizure, suspect designation, and detention as arbitrary actions.

According to the legal counsel, all these actions were not carried out in accordance with the applicable legal procedures.

“To declare invalid all decisions or determinations issued further by the Respondent relating to the designation of the Petitioner as a suspect by the Respondent. To order the Respondent to release the Petitioner from the Salemba State Detention Centre, Attorney General’s Office branch,” said the legal counsel.
