During the latest examination of former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sony Sonjaya, in the investigation into alleged corruption in the management of the Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG), investigators delved into a figure with the initials NSD whose name appeared in WhatsApp conversations related to the management of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) points. This fact was disclosed by Sony’s legal counsel, Krisna Murti, after accompanying his client for questioning as a suspect at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) building on Thursday, 18 June 2026. According to Krisna, NSD’s name was one of the first confirmed by investigators when opening and matching the contents of Sony’s WhatsApp conversations with a list of parties previously mentioned regarding requests for SPPG points. “In the examination report, Mr Sony explained that NSD changed the foundation. The foundation was replaced, then replaced again, up to three times,” Krisna told reporters. Krisna explained that investigators traced one by one the names that appeared in the list of SPPG point requests. It was from this process that conversations related to NSD were then opened and recorded in the official examination report. “Number one was NSD, then the conversation was opened. After that, it was detailed in the examination report,” he said. Based on Sony’s account, the SPPG points discussed in the conversation were those related to NSD. Several locations mentioned during the examination include areas in Madiun, Tapos, Bogor, and several other regions. What drew attention, according to Krisna, was the repeated change of foundations in the management of these points, despite the fact that such changes should be carried out through clear administrative procedures and accompanied by official notification to relevant parties. “If you want to change the foundation, there should be a letter to Mr Sony. But according to Mr Sony’s statement, it was just conveyed, ‘Just replace it’,” he said. Nevertheless, Krisna stressed that his client was not pointing fingers or accusing any party of committing a criminal act. Sony was merely conveying information he knew during his tenure as Deputy Head of BGN. “Mr Sony only outlined what he knew. As for who will be examined, that is the authority of the investigators,” he said.
