MBG Corruption: AGO Says Suspects Allegedly Misappropriated SPPG Incentives
The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has disclosed new findings in the alleged corruption case involving the management of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. Three primary suspects in this case are strongly suspected of embezzling incentive funds allocated by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for Nutrition Service Delivery Units (SPPG).
The three suspects are former high-ranking BGN officials, namely the former Head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana, and two former Deputy Heads of BGN, Lodewyk Pusung and Sony Sonjaya.
The Director of Investigation for the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General’s Office, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, explained that the BGN was supposed to distribute incentives amounting to Rp6 million per day to the SPPG. However, it is alleged that these funds were skimmed and used for the personal interests of the suspects.
“It is approximately that Rp6 million. The daily amount (is allegedly embezzled),” said Syarief at the Jampidsus Building, Jakarta, on Thursday (4/6/2026).
Although the flow of embezzled funds has been identified, Syarief stated that the detailed modus operandi of the misappropriation cannot yet be disclosed to the public, as the examination process is still part of confidential investigative material.
Regarding the potential application of Money Laundering (TPPU) charges, the Attorney General’s Office emphasised that the investigators’ current focus remains on proving pure corruption crimes. “For now, it is not yet (TPPU). We are still conducting a pure investigation into corruption crimes,” Syarief asserted.
For their actions, the suspects are charged under Article 603 in conjunction with Article 20 letter a or c of Law Number 1 of 2023 regarding the Criminal Code, as well as Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes, as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001.
Currently, Dadan Hindayana, Lodewyk Pusung, and Sony Sonjaya have been in detention for 20 days since Wednesday (3/6). The detention is being carried out at the Salemba Detention Centre, Jakarta Attorney General’s Office Branch and the Salemba Detention Centre, South Jakarta District Attorney’s Office Branch, to facilitate further investigation processes.
