MBG Budget to Undergo 'Efficiency' Following Arrest of Dadan and Others
The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Nanik S. Deyang, has stated that her administration will focus on implementing budget efficiencies. Succeeding Dadan Hindayana, she aims to improve the governance of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme to ensure it reaches the intended targets more accurately.
Nanik confirmed that she held a leadership meeting with two Deputy Heads of the BGN, Agustina Arumsari and Major General TNI Trenggono, on Thursday (4/6/2026). During the meeting, the primary focus was discussing budget efficiency in executing the MBG programme.
“Our first concern is to implement budget efficiency, so that even though it has already been reduced to Rp 268 trillion, we hope to reduce it further without compromising our targets,” she said during a press conference at the BGN Office on Thursday afternoon.
She stated that these efficiencies would be applied across various aspects of the MBG programme, including a review or refocusing of the programme’s beneficiaries.
Furthermore, Nanik announced that the BGN will implement a moratorium on the construction of new MBG kitchens. Simultaneously, the agency will focus on upgrading existing kitchens that are already operational.
“In the interest of budget efficiency, we are refocusing beneficiaries, implementing a moratorium on new kitchen sites, and renovating existing operational kitchens to ensure they meet the standards required to produce high-quality food,” Nanik explained.
According to her, the BGN will also conduct human resource training. If any MBG kitchens are found to be below standard, the agency will not hesitate to impose temporary suspension sanctions.
Additionally, the BGN will prioritise the implementation of the MBG programme in 3T regions (underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost). However, the execution in these 3T areas will utilise alternative implementation schemes to avoid placing an undue burden on the State Budget (APBN).
“That is what we consolidated this afternoon. Our focus is on budget efficiency,” she concluded.
