MBG Blessing! Cilacap Bakery UMKM Flooded with Orders, Turnover Surges
The Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme not only addresses nutritional needs but also brings fresh opportunities to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM). In various regions, the programme is emerging as a driver of grassroots economic activity. One business directly benefiting is Dapur Raffa, a home-based operation in Danasri Village, Nusawungu District, Cilacap Regency, Central Java. Owned by Siswanti, the business is now inundated with orders since joining the MBG programme. “Thanks to MBG, we’re feeling the benefits. We usually produce sweet bread variants like abin, chocolate, cheese, and strawberry,” said Siswanti, quoted on Monday, 30 March 2026. She revealed that demand for her bread products has risen significantly due to regular supplies of snacks to the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) in her area. “We usually supply twice a week, with 100-3,000 pieces for SPPG Danasri,” she said. This surge in demand has directly boosted the business’s income. In fact, Siswanti now has to hire additional workers to meet production needs. “Praise be, there’s an increase in income. And it’s also absorbing extra labour,” she said. This phenomenon illustrates how the MBG programme can drive economic growth at the local level, particularly for UMKM operators.
