Joy radiated from the face of Tupon Hadi Suwarno, or Mbah Tupon, after his two certificates were returned. The two certificates, which had previously been transferred to other names, finally came back to Mbah Tupon following a lengthy process.

The certificates were handed over by the Bantul District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari). After receiving them back, Mbah Tupon immediately performed a prostration of gratitude.

Observations from detikJogja showed Mbah Tupon, wearing a long-sleeved purple batik shirt, a black peci cap, and dark blue trousers, sitting in front of his house. Subsequently, the Head of the Bantul Prosecutor’s Office (Kajari), Kristanti Yuni Purnawanti, approached Mbah Tupon while carrying the two land certificates.

Kristanti then handed over the two land certificates to Mbah Tupon. Kristanti stated that each certificate was numbered 24452 in the name of Tupon Hadi Suwarno and certificate numbered 24451 in the name of Indah Fatmawati.

“Both were declared by the court judge to be returned to the rightful owner, namely Tupon Hadi Suwarno,” she said after handing over the two certificates in Ngentak, Bangunjiwo, Bantul, on Thursday (9/4/2026).

After the handover, Mbah Tupon and his wife immediately performed a prostration of gratitude while crying. Seeing this, Bantul Regent Abdul Halim Muslih, who was nearby, asked Mbah Tupon and his wife to stand up again.

Shortly afterwards, Mbah Tupon and his wife stood up again. Mbah Tupon then signed the handover minutes for the two certificates using his fingerprint.

Previously reported, seven defendants in the land mafia case with victim Tupon Hadi Suwarno or Mbah Tupon underwent a verdict reading session at the Bantul District Court (PN). One of the verdict’s decisions required the defendants to return Mbah Tupon’s certificates.

The trial was chaired by Gatot Raharjo, with member judges Dhitya Kusumaning Prawarni and Sisilia Dian Jiwa Yustisia.
