Mbah Iran to be President Prabowo's sacrificial animal, here's how it started
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA – A cattle farmer from Jati Wonokromo, Bantul, Sarjono (51), expressed his joy because his prized cow named Mbah Iran was selected as President Prabowo Subianto’s sacrificial animal this year.
“Initially, it started with a veterinarian who submitted the request to the Food and Agriculture Security Agency (DKPP) of Bantul, and it was immediately sent to Jakarta,” said Sarjono in Yogyakarta, Sunday (17/5).
He found out that his cow had been selected as President Prabowo’s sacrificial animal through an envoy from Jakarta who contacted him by telephone in May.
“After that, the Pleret office (Bantul) conducted a survey here and provided vitamins and deworming medication to ensure the cow was healthy,” he said.
According to him, the Peranakan Ongole (PO) breed cow, weighing one ton, is one of his prized animals that he has cared for over the past two years.
He bought the cow when it was three years old, so now the cow is about five years old. “I’m happy because it is needed by the number one person in Indonesia; (it was) purchased for IDR 90 million,” said Sarjono.
