Jakarta (ANTARA) - Taking advantage of the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GII Asc) 2026, PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI), the authorised distributor of Mazda in Indonesia, has officially launched the third generation of The All-New Mazda CX-5.

Ricky Thio, Chief Operating Officer of PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia, stated that the Mazda CX-5 holds significant importance in Mazda’s journey. This model not only introduces Mazda’s philosophy to millions of customers worldwide but also serves as an icon that has shaped the brand’s identity to date.

“That is why, when developing the third generation, Mazda’s focus was not to create a completely different Mazda CX-5, but rather to refine all the aspects that customers have most appreciated,” said Ricky Thio at ICE BSD, Tangerang, on Saturday (1/8).

“We believe The All-New Mazda CX-5 will continue that legacy while strengthening Mazda’s position in Indonesia through a premium SUV that is increasingly relevant to our customers’ needs,” he added.

Since its introduction 15 years ago, this model has sold over five million units in more than 100 countries as of the end of 2025. The latest generation now arrives with refinements in design, technology, comfort, and safety, without abandoning Mazda’s signature character.

In terms of design, the All-New Mazda CX-5 maintains the KODO Design philosophy, featuring a bolder appearance through updates to the front fascia, lighting, and rear end. Its dimensions have also been increased to enhance cabin space and boot capacity, providing greater comfort for passengers.

In terms of performance, the SUV is equipped with a SKYACTIV-G 2.5-litre engine producing 179 PS and 240 Nm of torque. Mazda also claims to have improved handling quality, suspension comfort, and reduced cabin noise to ensure a smoother driving experience.

Various Mazda i-Activsense active safety features have been integrated, including Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCA), Smart Brake Support (SBS), and Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC). These features serve as part of Mazda’s strategy to meet rising consumer expectations regarding safety technology.

The arrival of the All-New Mazda CX-5 is expected to intensify competition in Indonesia’s premium SUV segment, which includes models such as the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Santa Fe, BMW X1, and Mercedes-Benz GLA. Competition in this class no longer relies solely on engine performance, but also on design, driving experience, and the completeness of safety features and digital technology.

In Indonesia, the All-New Mazda CX-5 is marketed in two variants: the Sport Edition priced at Rp599 million and the Kuro Edition at Rp689.9 million (OTR Jakarta).
