PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI), the brand holder agent (APM) for Mazda in Indonesia, has inaugurated Mazda’s first assembly facility in Indonesia, located in Citeureup, Bogor Regency, West Java.

For the first time since becoming Mazda’s brand holder agent in 2017, Mazda is now assembling vehicles in Indonesia as part of the company’s long-term investment strategy.

The Mazda Indonesia Plant is a dedicated vehicle assembly facility built exclusively for Mazda vehicles. Unlike facilities that use a shared assembly line, all the equipment, working methods and production processes have been designed specifically to match the characteristics of Mazda vehicles, ensuring every production stage is carried out consistently according to Mazda’s global manufacturing standards.

The production process at the Mazda Indonesia Plant integrates all stages into a single standardised flow, starting with the receipt of Completely Knocked Down (CKD) components, material management through a Warehouse Management System (WMS), kitting, and distribution of components to each assembly station in line with the production sequence.

All production activities are controlled through the Manufacturing Execution System (Assembly Line Control), which allows every component, process and vehicle to be digitally documented with a high level of traceability. This approach ensures the entire production process runs accurately, consistently and in accordance with Mazda’s global manufacturing standards.

Once assembly is complete, every vehicle undergoes a comprehensive range of quality validations, from body setting and wheel alignment to dynamic tests on a dedicated test track simulating various road conditions. Testing then continues with a Water Leak Test, Under Body Inspection, Final Inspection and Product Audit before the vehicle is declared to meet Mazda’s quality standards and distributed to customers.

All inspection results are then evaluated in the Audit Room, the vehicle quality validation centre based on the Mazda Quality Index for Customer (MQI).

“Going forward, the Mazda Indonesia Plant will be the foundation for the development of Mazda manufacturing in Indonesia, from the development of new models and the gradual increase of production capacity, to strengthening collaboration with national supporting industries. We want to ensure that this investment not only delivers vehicles of global quality, but also creates sustainable value for customers, society and the Indonesian automotive industry,” said Ricky Thio, President Director of PT Eurokars Produksi Pratama and Chief Operating Officer of PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia.

Beyond building technical competence, the programme is also part of the process of transferring Mazda’s manufacturing knowledge to Indonesian human resources. Every member of staff is equipped with the philosophy of Monozukuri, the spirit of Takumi Craftsmanship, and a zero-defect mindset as a working culture that places quality as each individual’s responsibility from the start of the production process.

Through an investment of more than Rp 400 billion, Mazda has built the assembly facility on a site of nearly 65,000 square metres, equipped with a production line, quality validation areas, a dedicated test track and various supporting facilities designed according to Mazda Global Manufacturing Standards.

In the initial phase of operations, the facility assembles the Mazda CX-30 as the first locally produced model, with a capacity of more than 10,000 units per year through two-shift operations, in line with the company’s business development.

“Mazda Motor Corporation supports the development of the Mazda Indonesia Plant through the transfer of manufacturing knowledge, production systems, quality management practices and human resource capability development. We believe that quality is built by people, refined through disciplined processes, and maintained through continuous improvement. Therefore, every vehicle assembled at this facility must deliver the quality, craftsmanship, performance, reliability and driving experience that Mazda customers in Indonesia expect,” said Toru Nakajima, Senior Executive Officer, ASEAN Business Office, Mazda Motor Corporation.
