Jakarta (ANTARA) – Japanese carmaker Mazda is expanding the configuration options for its CX-90 sport utility vehicle (SUV), offering a two-row seating option as a replacement for the discontinued CX-70 in the US market.

Carscoops reported on Wednesday that adding the new configuration will not eliminate the previously available three-row versions, which cater to customers needing more passenger capacity.

Mazda is preparing nine CX-90 trims for the 2027 model year. Only two will be available with two-row seating: the CX-90 3.3 Turbo Premium Sport and the CX-90 3.3 Turbo S Premium Sport.

Mazda is also adding exterior colour options, including Navy Blue Mica, Aero Grey Metallic, Melting Copper Metallic and Zircon Sand Metallic.

The petrol-powered variants use a 3.3-litre turbocharged straight-six engine paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The engine produces 280 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, or about 450 Nm.

Mazda will also offer three plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants combining a 2.5-litre petrol engine, an electric motor and a 17.8 kWh battery. The powertrain produces 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.

In the US, the 2027 CX-90 is priced from US$39,700 (Rp721.8 million), excluding delivery and handling charges.

That price applies to the 3.3 Turbo Select trim, while the PHEV and Turbo S variants cost more, depending on their configurations and equipment.
