Mazda Boss Claims All Its Cars Are Ready for New E10 Fuel
PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI) has stated that all Mazda vehicles currently marketed are compatible with E10 fuel. The government has recently been expanding the use of biofuels as part of the energy transition.
The government is currently promoting the gradual use of bioethanol. In addition to continuing the B50 biodiesel programme for diesel vehicles, the government is also preparing to expand the use of bioethanol-blended petrol for petrol-engine vehicles.
“Currently, all our Mazda cars are ethanol 10, yes. Ethanol 10,” said Chief Operating Officer (COO) of PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia and President Director of Mazda Indonesia Ricky Thio during the Mazda Media Dialogue at Mazda Simprug, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/7/2026).
Nevertheless, Ricky reminded consumers that they can still verify these specifications through the vehicle handbook or the information listed on the fuel tank cap of each model.
“Our CX-60 can take ethanol 10,” Ricky mentioned.
According to Ricky, information regarding fuel compatibility is actually already available on every vehicle, so consumers can check it directly before refuelling.
“It is usually in the handbook as well. But the easiest way is to open the fuel cap, it’s there, you can see it,” said Ricky.
The Indonesian government is gradually implementing the blending of petrol with bioethanol, from a 5% blend (E5) launched in 2026 to reaching a nationally mandated target of 10% (E10) by 2028.
For standard or non-subsidised petrol, the bioethanol blend in 2026 is targeted at 5% (E5) for six regions in the country: East Java, the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, West Java, Banten, Central Java, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
Meanwhile, in 2027, the bioethanol blend is also targeted at 5% (E5), but with one additional implementation area, namely Bali. Thus, by 2027, the target for E5 implementation covers seven regions in Indonesia.
In 2028, the bioethanol blend is targeted to increase to 10% (E10), with the implementation areas remaining the same seven regions as targeted in 2027.
For 2029 and 2030, the bioethanol blend target remains at 10% (E10), but with one more implementation area added, namely Lampung. The total E10 implementation areas in 2029 and 2030 will reach eight regions.
