Mayor wants illegal building demolished

JAKARTA: Central Jakarta mayor Muhayat has demanded the
demolition of a building under construction behind the ITC Roxy
Mas commercial center as it had allegedly violated the city's
spatial plan.

"This (the construction process) could not be given any
leeway. The related officials must demolish it as soon as
possible," said Muhayat on Friday.

Muhayat explained that the Gambir district head had reported
the illegal construction of the two-story building which had not
obtained the administration's permission. Commercial shop owners
behind the building had already filed complaints.

Currently, construction was still ongoing even though the site
has been sealed. -- Antara
