Mayor Supian Suri: No Wandering Ghosts or Shape-Shifting Pigs in Depok, Stop the Bullying

Depok Mayor Supian Suri has affirmed that various viral issues, such as wandering pocong ghosts and shape-shifting pigs in Depok City, are untrue. He has asked netizens and the public to stop disseminating hoaxes that he believes frequently make Depok the subject of bullying in public spaces, particularly on social media. The statement was delivered by Supian in a speech marking the 27th anniversary of Depok City on Monday (27/4/2026), which was uploaded to the official YouTube channel of the Depok Communication and Informatics Office (Diskominfo). “We kindly ask all netizens and the entire Depok community, as the Mayor, along with Mr Chandra, we are very open to criticism, input, and suggestions from netizen friends or the public in general. But please help us to eliminate the hoaxes in Depok,” Supian said. He alluded to the recent re-emergence of hoaxes circulating on social media, namely the “wandering pocong” in Depok. Supian stressed that such issues are utterly implausible. Supian also affirmed that various old issues often used as jokes do not align with facts, such as flying coffins, shape-shifting pigs, and wandering pocong. These issues instead tarnish Depok’s image, turning it into a target of mockery, especially on social media. “So I kindly ask, do not keep bullying Depok with things that actually do not exist. There are no flying coffins in Depok City, no shape-shifting pigs in Depok City, and no pocong wandering around Depok City,” he said. He invited the public to jointly safeguard the city’s image and cultivate a sense of ownership towards Depok. “For that, help me so that we keep this city as a source of pride for us all. Let us foster a sense of belonging and love for Depok City,” Supian stated. He even referenced the term “Sawangan Kubro,” which has been buzzing on social media as a form of criticism regarding traffic congestion. “Including Sawangan Kubro, I don’t mind it being mentioned because this is our homework,” Supian said. The term refers to the congestion in the Sawangan Main Road area, particularly from the Depok-Antasari Toll exit to the Parung Bingung junction.
